Position Summary:
The Laser Tracker Technician ensures that all manufactured and purchased components meet customer and engineering quality standards. The ideal candidate will verify that parts meet all customer requirements as specified in a customer quality plan. We are looking for a candidate with previous experience in a similar field and a good knowledge of inspection methods who can also operate a fork truck, 5/10 crane, and complete basic Laser Tracker maintenance as specified.
Employment Type: Full Time Hourly
Key Responsibilities:
Verifies that manufactured and purchased parts conform to engineering specifications and drawings utilizing a Laser Tracker.
Marks up manufactured parts for finish machining operations as required by the manufacturing routing.
Provides subassembly personnel with inspection data when adjustments are required to meet final accuracy requirements.
Verifies that subassemblies meet the accuracy requirements specified by engineering specifications and drawings.
Create programs for Laser Tracker from part drawings and CAD data.
Create inspection reports from gathered data and process Defective Work Tickets.
Qualifications:
2 years of hands-on experience operating Leica or Faro Laser Trackers.
Proficient with SpatialAnalyzer inspection software.
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and apply GD&T principles.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physically able to climb ladders, use scissor lifts, and work in varied positions (standing, crouching, crawling) for extended periods.
Demonstrated safety awareness and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
Prior experience in large-scale machining or heavy industrial manufacturing environments.
Familiarity with precision alignment, layout inspection, or metrology principles.
Basic understanding of mechanical assembly and tolerance stacking.
Location & Compensation:
Rockford, IL
Pay: $24 - $40 p/hour
