Are you a detail-oriented compliance professional with a deep knowledge of affordable housing programs? The Donaldson Group, a leader in multifamily property management, is looking for an experienced HUD Recertification Specialist to join our team at Brookland Manor, a 465-unit residential apartment community in Washington, DC.

This full-time position is ideal for a compliance-focused professional with a strong background in LIHTC, HUD, and Section 8 programs who takes pride in accuracy, organization, and resident service.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of housing compliance programs, including LIHTC, HUD, and Section 8
  • Conduct audits, ensure adherence to HUD functions, and oversee EIV requirements
  • Perform accurate income calculations and rent determinations
  • Coordinate with the property management team to maintain compliance standards
  • Maintain thorough documentation and compliance records using Yardi (preferred)

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Recertification Specialist or Compliance Specialist in multifamily Project-Based Section 8 housing
  • In-depth knowledge of HUD 4350.3 Handbook, IRS Section 42 compliance, and multifamily property management concepts
  • Experience with MOR audits and general HUD compliance
  • Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS) or Certified Professional of Occupancy (CPO) certification preferred
  • Advanced math skills for accurate income and rent calculations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organizational abilities, and self-motivation
  • Proficiency with Windows-based software; Yardi experience preferred
  • General accounting and budgeting experience
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, professional environment
  • Reliable transportation
