First National Holdings, LLC makes loans secured by real estate, specializing in Texas and Nevada property tax loans and commercial loans. Propel Financial Services and Hunter-Kelsey of Texas, LLC are brands utilized under First National Holdings. Founded in 2007, Propel has made over 55,000 loans. Founded in 2005, Hunter-Kelsey has made over 10,000 loans. Combined they are one of the largest property tax lenders in Texas.
The Head of Credit will be based out of Northwest San Antonio and will report to the CEO. This position will be responsible for every aspect of underwriting for the commercial real estate lending program, which includes : investment residential; multifamily and mixed-use; bridge and value-add; flex capital; ground up construction and transactional funding; within the range of $250K-5M, but primarily focused on shorter duration, smaller balance loans. Functions will consist of a wide variety of job duties, from day-to-day underwriting and processing tasks to the eventual hiring and overseeing of a small team of underwriters, processors and appraisal reviewers as needed during expansion of the CREL program. Additionally, the Head of Credit will provide risk management across several areas of the business and will have opportunity to assist with build out of new CREL product offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting & Risk Management
- Underwriting of commercial real estate loans, ensuring adherence to established underwriting guidelines and risk policies.
- Participate in the investment committee, providing expert analysis and recommendations on loan proposals.
- Conduct regular reviews of the existing loan portfolio to assess performance, identify potential risks, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with default management to address non-performing loans and implement strategies to mitigate losses.
- Manage internal risk control policies and procedures to ensure the institution is adequately protected from credit risk.
- Ensure all underwriting decisions are documented and compliant with company policies and regulatory requirements.
