Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including recording vital signs, medical histories, and updating electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems).
- Prepare examination rooms with necessary supplies and ensure cleanliness and organization for each patient visit.
- Perform clinical procedures such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, and basic life support (BLS) when needed.
- Support patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, and providing compassionate service throughout their visit.
- Manage medical documentation accurately, including ICD coding, medical records management, and detailed note-taking for EMR/EHR systems.
- Facilitate laboratory tasks such as specimen collection and processing while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Coordinate appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and assist with administrative duties like insurance verification and billing support.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar outpatient or hospital setting with knowledge of medical terminology and physiology.
- Hands-on experience with EHR/EMR systems, medical documentation, and medical office management.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or medication administration are a plus.
- Familiarity with dermatology procedures, urgent care protocols, hospital medicine practices and outpatient clinic operations.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, pharmacology, ICD coding, and medical-surgical procedures relevant to diverse specialties.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to handle fast-paced environments while maintaining professionalism and empathy.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams in hospital or outpatient settings with hospital experience preferred.
