JOB TITLE: Quality Technician
DEPARTMENT: Quality
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Quality Technician is responsible for assuring compliance for product requirements to meet company expectations and customer satisfaction.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collect 5-20 finished products in 15-minute intervals, weigh, and record deviations from standard.
- Examine package fabrication of pouches, cartons, and shipping containers to ensure their quality.
- Examine code dates on pouches, cartons, and shipping containers to ensure their accuracy.
- Examine metal detectors for potential foreign material in product.
- Perform occasional lifting to 45 pounds.
- Knowledge in GMO, Non-GMO, Kosher, Gluten Free, Fair Trade and other Identity Preserved Food requirements
- Knowledge in “Food Sensory Processes” for Ingredients and Finished Products
- To comply with all rules and regulations and to continuously practice safety while performing duties.
- To develop and maintain positive working relationships as a team with other employees and other departments as a responsibility in fulfilling all job functions.
- A commitment to quality assurance to ensure we manufacture quality products manufactured for our customers.
- Ensure that your workspace location is cleaned up prior to the end of your scheduled shift.
- Practice and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
- Responsible for food safety and quality as well as reporting food safety and quality problems to the Manager of Quality if unable to initiate action.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Effective Communication Skills
- Proficient in Excel and Microsoft 360 Office applications & Nutritional facts.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, hands-on environment
- Professional appearance and conduct with customers, vendors, and other employees.
- To thoroughly understand SOPs and Food Quality documents that are critical to meet our customer specifications and maintenance of food safety, quality, and process efficiencies.
- Understanding & experience of Food Technology, food systems, ingredients, and processing interactions.
- Understanding of the needs of the Customers & Consumers
- Understanding of Food Products Packaging requirements.
- Learn and extend support on Quality Analysis for QA Team when necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment
- 1-2 years quality control experience in a high-speed production line operation (preferred)
- Knowledge of SQF standards, HACCP & Food Safety initiative’s
- Working familiarity with GMP and other food safety standards including HACCP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products primarily Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability and willingness to learn internal software programs
- Safety standards require the ability to speak read and write in the English language
- Must be able to work in an environment that handles allergenic ingredients including milk, soy, eggs, wheat, peanuts, and tree nuts
