What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gift Shop Cashier - Bay Park Hospital - Part Time - Days position at ProMedica?
ProMedica Bay Park Hospital caters to communities east of the Maumee River. Our campus includes a state-of-the-art community hospital with 91 private beds and a professional office building dedicated to doctors' offices and outpatient rehabilitation, as well as a treatment and diagnostic center. The hospital itself was designed with patient comfort and healing in mind, with wider hallways, single-patient rooms and an abundance of natural light.
POSITION SUMMARY
To provide the desired level of service, this position is in continuous interaction with customers, co-workers and volunteers; therefore, the incumbent must demonstrate a friendly cooperative professional attitude at all times. Also, must operate the cash register according to departmental policies and procedures.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Cashiers responsibility is to greet the customers, offer assistance and be courteous throughout the sale.
- Ensure accurate and efficient sales transactions with a good working knowledge of methods of payment and their substitutes for cash; electronic sales system; checks and rings all sales on proper keys, giving receipts for all sales and reconciles the register at close.
- Maintains a working knowledge of product lines, store layout and product location. Must be familiar with use and application of merchandise in order to provide reasonable assistance to customers.
- Observes all security policies and procedures.
- Develops a good working relationship with volunteers and co-workers, demonstrating cooperation and teamwork.
- Maintains shop in a neat, orderly fashion; shelving merchandise, restocking and dusting as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Skills: Requires the ability to make change, keep records accurately, operate a POS system, usually acquired through previous experience as a cashier.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be able to move about the hospital and between workstations.
- Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to operate a cash register and calculators.
- Must be able to occasionally move, lift or carry medium weight materials.
