Fleet Automotive Electrical Systems Technician

Essential Duties:

• Install, troubleshoot, and repair 12-volt electrical systems in fleet vehicles and equipment
• Wire and install emergency lighting, radios, sirens, inverters, and related components
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
• Diagnose electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment (multimeter, circuit testers, etc.)
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on vehicle electrical systems
• Ensure all installations comply with safety standards, manufacturer guidelines, and company policies
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, parts used, and repairs completed
• Collaborate with maintenance staff and leadership to prioritize fleet repair needs
• Ensure proper routing, securing, and protection of wiring harnesses and components
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Respond to urgent repair needs as required to support fleet availability

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive electrical systems or related field
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
• Basic understanding of automotive electrical components and systems
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with emergency vehicles (ambulances, fire, law enforcement, or commercial fleets)
• Experience installing communication equipment, lighting systems, or fleet electronics
• Technical training or certification in automotive electrical systems

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
