Role
A Utility Locator plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of utility installations and maintenance. A successful Locator continuously prioritizes quality of workmanship, strong customer relations, and productivity in order to meet the various needs of our customers, our team, and our business. As roadblocks and changes arise spontaneously throughout the day, a Utility Locator is able to utilize their critical thinking skills, making logical and efficient decisions quickly.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough and accurate utility line locates using specialized equipment and techniques.
- Utilize GPS to record site and utility data.
- Interpret blueprints and site plans to accurately identify utility locations.
- Mark the locations of the underground utilities clearly and accurately within the site.
- Clearly communicate findings to project managers, excavators, and other relevant parties through detailed reports, diagrams, and verbal explanations.
- Inspect all tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure safe and proper operation.
- Adhere to all safety protocols throughout various environments, including construction sites.
Qualifications
- 1 year experience with electromagnetic locating/GPR, preferred. Willing to train the right candidate.
- Ability to read blueprints and site plans, strongly preferred.
- Strong computer and data recording skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effective and professional communication skills.
- Able to work productively and efficiently in autonomous environments.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing. Ongoing drug testing is required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
