As our Mechanical Engineer Intern, you’ll collaborate with our Mechanical Engineering team on a variety of systems and component design projects. You’ll gain hands-on experience applying engineering principles, using design software, and contributing to projects that directly impact our manufacturing processes.
What You’ll Do
- Apply engineering principles to develop 3D models and create detailed build drawings for the manufacturing team
- Interpret project requirements and incorporate lessons learned from previous designs into new projects
- Perform basic calculations to validate designs
- Apply fits, tolerances, and design notes (e.g., shafts, bearings, welding) to subcomponents
- Participate in project turnover and design review meetings
- Enter Bills of Material (BOMs) into Syteline ERP system
- Core engineering principles in real-world applications
- The importance of accuracy in designs provided to manufacturing and customers
- Collaboration skills through cross-department communication during design-to-build phases
- Professional communication skills (oral and written) through project feedback and reporting
- Time management, accountability, and adaptability to meet project deadlines
- Sophomore or Junior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D/3D; Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks a plus
- Introductory experience with 3D modeling and simulation (stress/motion analysis)
- Ability to interpret and create technical drawings to industry standards (ASME, ISO)
- Foundational knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods
- Adaptability and problem-solving in fast-paced environments
- Attention to detail and timely decision-making
- Collaboration across teams and levels of the organization
- Clear communication and results orientation
