Job Summary
Huntington Ingalls Industries (Newport News Shipbuilding) is seeking a Supply Chain Specialist 3 to support procurement and supply chain operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing materials, coordinating with suppliers, managing purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery, and supporting overall supply chain performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Typical Responsibilities
- Procure materials, equipment, and services to support production requirements.
- Manage supplier relationships and coordinate purchase orders.
- Monitor material availability and delivery schedules.
- Resolve supplier performance, delivery, and quality issues.
- Analyze procurement data and inventory requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams.
- Maintain procurement documentation and ERP records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procurement procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Supply Chain, Procurement, Purchasing, or Materials Management.
- Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Aerospace, or Defense industry experience.
- ERP systems experience (SAP, Oracle, Costpoint, etc.).
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Microsoft Excel proficiency.
Minimum to Maximum Experience
- Minimum: 3 years
- Maximum: 7 years
