Duties
- Install new garage doors, openers, and related hardware following blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
- Perform repairs on malfunctioning or damaged garage doors, including replacing springs, cables, rollers, and tracks
- Conduct routine maintenance such as lubrication, adjustments, and safety inspections to ensure optimal operation
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to complete installations and repairs efficiently
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams to accurately execute projects
- Handle heavy lifting of garage doors and components safely using appropriate equipment and techniques
- Troubleshoot electrical systems associated with garage door openers and perform basic electrical wiring as needed
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems related to garage doors and openers
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication tools for installation and repair tasks
- Experience with glass installation for windows or panels within garage doors or related fixtures
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately
- Strong understanding of construction site procedures including framing (metal stud framing), trim carpentry, door hanging, fixture installation, cabinet installation, locksmithing, caulking, remodeling and electrical work
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in fabrication and metal work techniques
- Knowledge of construction practices including carpentry skills such as frame carpentry and drywall finishing
- Prior experience on construction sites or remodeling projects is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely over extended periods while maintaining precision in work tasks
- Excellent problem-solving skills with an eye for detail in troubleshooting issues related to garage door systems
