Position Overview
This position is bond-eligible and dedicated exclusively to capital construction, modernization, and sustainability projects under the BuildLACCD Bond Program. Work performed in this role is strictly limited to bond-eligible activities and does not include routine maintenance, repairs, or facilities operations work.
The Engineer IV (Electrical) – Sustainability plays a critical role in advancing LACCD's districtwide clean energy, electrification, and carbon-reduction initiatives. This position provides senior-level electrical engineering expertise across planning, design, construction, commissioning, and closeout phases to support sustainable, high-performance campus facilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support sustainability-focused electrical engineering efforts for bond-funded college projects
- Implement electrification of central plants and building systems aligned with the Board of Trustees' Clean Energy Resolution (July 9, 2020)
- Support districtwide energy master planning, carbon reduction, grid resiliency, and electrification initiatives
- Apply sustainable building principles and standards to complex, system-level electrical issues
- Ensure integration of LED lighting, photovoltaic (PV) systems, battery energy storage systems (BESS), EV charging infrastructure, microgrids, and smart controls
- Apply working knowledge of Title 24, ASHRAE recommendations, and California Energy Codes
- Perform electrical engineering analyses and prepare technical reports supporting District design guidelines
- Coordinate with Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams to meet project requirements and schedules
- Provide peer review and technical support on RFCs, change orders, and other construction documents
- Participate in all phases of the project lifecycle, including master planning, design, construction, and closeout
- Attend project and construction meetings and travel to job sites as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the PMO and LACCD
Minimum Required Qualifications
(All minimum requirements must be met to be considered)
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 10 years of professional electrical engineering experience in design, construction, or facilities infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of California Energy Codes, Title 24 Energy Code, NEC, Cal Green Code, and applicable electrical engineering standards
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in Educational Facility Construction
- Experience with LEED and/or CHPS projects
- California Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering
