What are the responsibilities and job description for the Long-term Substitute Special Education Paraprofessional position at Project Support Preschool?
This is a long-term substitute position and the duration is unknown at this time. This position is 6.5 hours per day with a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch and pays $15/hour and the hours are from 8:30-3:00.
The paraprofessional will support special education students in the regular education inclusion setting. In addition, the paraprofessional will support students in a small group academic support setting.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare instructional material and learning activities in the assigned classroom.
Provide direct instruction to groups of students or individuals in or out of the classroom.
This may include:
Implementation of individualized and small group instruction and discussions
Accommodating and modifying materials to match students’ needs as prescribed by the teacher.
Assist with the collection of student data.
Consult with teachers on students’ progress and on specific strategies and methodologies to be used.
Supervise unstructured time such as recess and/or lunch duty, unless directed otherwise.
Assist the teacher in clean-up.
Assists with any other tasks that students are not able to perform for themselves
Depending on the assignment, provide assistance in escorting children to and from vehicles during drop-off or pick-up.
Assist students in using technology.
Assist substitutes in following lesson plans when the classroom teacher is absent
Ability to lift 30lbs. independently
Willingness to participate in toileting activities is required.
Provide other related duties that the Preschool Director, Special Education Director, and/or teacher may assign
