Remote Part-Time Job: On-Camera CS Teacher We are looking for charismatic individuals to teach AP Computer Science A (Java) and Introduction to Computer Science (Python) in a new series of instructional videos. Individuals from all backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to apply. This is a remote and paid part-time position. Project STEM is a nonprofit organization focused on advancing equity in computer science and STEM education by inspiring and empowering PreK-12 students and teachers in schools and districts across the U.S. At the core of our mission is a belief that an understanding and love of computer science and STEM is critical to creating a generation of engaged learners who can change the world. The position entails recording video lessons for the entirety of the course (either AP Computer Science A or Introduction to Computer Science). The instructor will explain and demonstrate course material, unpack computer science concepts, and code along where necessary. The day-to-day for this position entails recording these videos (explaining concepts, coding along, and providing anecdotes) for each lesson of the course; scheduling is flexible as long as teachers can devote 10+ hours a week to recording. Our ideal candidate has Java or Python experience, can relate to high school students at a one-on-one level, and is comfortable teaching on camera. We will provide lesson plans and general scripts and talking points. Experience making lesson plans and teaching is not a requirement. This job requires a minimum of 10 hours per week and will start in early January 2021. Duration of the job depends on the availability of the on-camera teachers, but we estimate it will go through March.
