Overview

The Field Quality Manager is responsible for monitoring and auditing a project’s quality management requirements and executing the Project Quality Management Plan. This role works closely with Project Managers and other stakeholders to ensure project quality objectives are met throughout the project lifecycle. The position leads planning and oversight of procured equipment and materials, supporting the Director of Quality in measuring Quality Management System performance. This is a full-time, on-site role based in the Roselle, New Jersey area.


Responsibilities

TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and review quality requirements during project planning, including standards, guidelines, and project checklists.
  • Prepare and update project-specific audit plans including schedules, documentation, and resource needs.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance for compliance with quality requirements.
  • Support business development and pursuit activities by preparing quality-related deliverables.
  • Create project-specific quality management plans during early planning phases.
  • Provide guidance in the execution of the Quality Management System.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives involving performance and process plans.
  • Provide leadership, support, and direction for all project quality activities.
  • Partner with operating entities to ensure contract-required quality obligations, requirements, and documentation are met and properly maintained.
  • Deliver training and awareness to project teams on quality-related activities.
  • Ensure project procedures and processes remain aligned with the Quality Management System and contract requirements.
  • Validate completion of lessons learned, corrective actions, and continuous improvement items.
  • Recommend procedural improvements and best practices based on audits and lessons learned.
  • Plan and carry out systematic, independent examinations and audits of project quality requirements, objectives, and documentation.
  • Identify and document issues that may impact expected outcomes and develop appropriate corrective action plans.
  • Assist operational leadership with maintaining the Quality Management System, including procedures, processes, and training.
  • Interface regularly with field operations, project management, corporate support functions, project controls, and clients on quality-related matters.
  • Perform detailed inspections/audits of each definable feature of work.
  • Perform random inspections of work completed by operating entities or subcontractors and review associated QA documentation.
  • Review procedures and quality records from operating entities and subcontractors to verify compliance.
  • Manage document control for quality, ensuring that all project documents used in the field are current, properly stored, and compliant with procedures. This includes drawings, test records, supplier/subcontractor documents, and related materials.
  • Manage non-conformance control: ensure non-conformances are identified, tracked, documented, and resolved by project teams.
  • Comply with internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Support special projects and complete other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • 30-Hour OSHA certification.
  • CIA – Certified Internal Auditor.
  • CQA – Certified Professional Auditor.
  • Applicable certifications related to inspection, testing, welding, structural bolting, commissioning, etc.


  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in design, surveillance monitoring, and Project Management, including:
  • Experience in electrical/substation, mechanical, and piping construction, along with facility startup and operations.
  • Heavy mechanical process piping background required.
  • Full understanding of ASME codes.
  • Knowledge of hydrotesting, pneumatic testing, and mechanical startup procedures.
  • Experience developing and implementing Quality programs.
  • Prior experience as Manager, Superintendent, Project Manager, or Quality Manager/Auditor.
  • Multi-state experience and understanding of state/local quality-related codes and AHJ requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of safety requirements and environmental considerations.
  • Experience in surveillance oversight programs and inspection test plan development.
  • Technical expertise related to design requirements, equipment/material specifications, testing, and standards compliance.
  • Understanding of critical path scheduling.
  • Excellent problem solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
