What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Design Engineer position at Project Partners?
The Electrical Engineer selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in electrical design for water and wastewater facilities that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for an Electrical Engineer that has 10 years of experience in planning, design, and construction for water and wastewater projects to work hybrid (on-site and remote) and either part-time or full-time (approximately 20-40 hours per week) in the Orange County area.
Projects may include:
- Pump Station Replacement and Rehabilitation Projects
- Wastewater Treatment Plant Rehabilitation and Expansion Projects
- Utility Systems (I&C)
As an Electrical Engineer, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Perform advanced engineering work in the planning, design, construction, and compliance of wastewater facilities, systems, and programs. Review and provide input on detailed designs, drawings, technical specifications, and scopes of work.
- Conduct engineering studies, calculations, and system/process modeling. Compile data, review reports, and monitor operations to support sound engineering decisions.
- Prepare plan clarifications and design changes in response to contractor RFIs. Verify that work, equipment, and materials meet design specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and issue field change orders; analyze and negotiate contractor change order requests and claims; recommend modifications when necessary.
- Coordinate and participate in system start-up, acceptance testing, and reliability testing. Troubleshoot technical issues during commissioning to ensure smooth project delivery.
As an Electrical Engineer, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering
- 10 years of experience in providing electrical design engineering for wastewater facilities or large industrial facilities
- Licensed California Professional Engineer (PE)
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents and construction plans and specifications
- Knowledge of: modern and advanced principles and practices of electrical engineering, computer-aided drafting (CAD) concepts and applications, and current equipment and communication tools used for business functions and program, project, and task coordination.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
