Position Summary: The Adult Education Instructor provides high-quality, high-impact instruction to adult learners in ABE (Adult Basic Education) and GED preparation programs. The instructor fosters student success by integrating industry-specific skills, digital literacy, and career pathway exploration, while employing teaching strategies that align with adult learning goals. This role requires collaboration with program staff to enhance learning outcomes and support students' transition to vocational, academic, or career pathways.Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction in ABE classes, incorporating industry-specific skills and digital literacy.Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the Pennsylvania College and Career Readiness Standards (PA CCRS).Teach test-taking strategies, career exploration, and higher-order thinking skills to prepare students for post-secondary education or employment.Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and post-test in accordance with assessment policies.Track student attendance and performance; implement strategies to improve achievement and persistence.Collaborate with Student Support Coordinator to identify and address barriers to student progression.Work cooperatively with Literacy Program staff to plan curriculum development, occasional Friday sessions, and program improvement initiatives.Collectively problem-solve and make recommendations for continuous improvement of curriculum offerings.Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement and success.Maintain confidentiality of all student records and information.Attend all program staff meetings as assigned.Participate in occasional travel to division-mandated meetings.Stay current on best practices, research, and professional developments in adult education.Participate in professional development, in-service training, and other activities as directed by the Director of Programs.Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Programs.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
