What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker position at Project Hospitality?
SUMMARY:
Work to strengthen overall permanency outcomes for families with children in our shelter.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct formal intake interviews; make assessments and referrals as needed.
- Complete psycho-socials and social history when applicable.
- Provide short and long-term counseling, crisis intervention, safety planning, and psycho-education.
- Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date programmatic paperwork and statistical information.
- Assist clients in completing entitlement forms as needed.
- Make referrals for various services, such as food, clothing, bathing, psychiatric evaluations, medical evaluations, TB and HIV testing, and accompany clients as needed and also handle follow-up as needed.
- Make referrals to other service areas within Project Hospitality and the community.
- Participate in weekly supervision, weekly staff meetings, and ongoing case conferences.
- Transport clients to appropriate referral sites when deemed necessary.
Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Social Work and LMSW required.
- Minimum of 1-year experience working with the mentally ill and homeless populations, experience with substance abuse also preferred.
- Experience with group work, child welfare, and working with families needed.
- Some supervisory experience is required.
- Knowledge of DSM IV.
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
- Must have exceptional communication skills both orally and in writing, with individuals and groups regarding confidential and sensitive issues.
Salary : $66,300 - $70,000
