Project Ezrah is seeking to hire a social worker to join our growing team.
This full-time Social Worker position (30–35 hours per week) is a hybrid role based in Bergen County, NJ, combining on-site and remote work. The schedule includes one evening per week of remote availability.
Project Ezrah is dedicated to strengthening the financial and emotional well-being of individuals and families in our community. The Social Worker plays a central role in this mission by guiding clients through financial challenges, employment transitions, and periods of instability. This position involves a blend of clinical insight, practical problem-solving, and supportive coaching.
The Social Worker serves as the primary point of contact for clients, conducting thorough assessments, creating individualized action plans, and connecting clients with internal resources and community partners. This role is part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team that includes career coaches, financial experts, and the Executive Director, all working together to create sustainable, long-term outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive client intake interviews and psychosocial assessments
- Assist clients in completing benefit, aid, and program applications; training provided for all required systems and processes.
- Maintain a balanced caseload and meet regularly with clients to provide support, guidance, and accountability
- Help clients develop financial literacy skills, understand budgets, and navigate short- and long-term financial decisions
- Partner closely with the fiscal department and Executive Director to review financial documentation and create realistic action plans
- Collaborate as an active member of a multidisciplinary team; participate in case reviews, strategy discussions, and program development initiatives
- Work with community agencies, synagogues, mental health providers, and social service organizations to coordinate referrals and resources
- Provide crisis support when needed and help clients stabilize during moments of acute stress
- Offer ongoing follow-up to monitor client progress and ensure continuity of care
- Maintain accurate and timely case notes, documentation, and client records
- Flexible team player who can work on the big picture while also seeing all the details through.
- Support broader organizational initiatives, events, and community education efforts as needed
- Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) preferred
- 3–5 years of direct experience providing case management, counseling, or direct client services
- Strong assessment, communication, and advocacy skills
- Ability to coach clients around financial literacy, budgeting, and goal setting (training provided if needed)
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team setting
- Organized, compassionate, and able to balance empathy with accountability
- Comfortable working with sensitive financial and personal information
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Google Workspace, and video conferencing platforms
- Experience in nonprofit, community-based, or Jewish communal organizations
- Familiarity with financial coaching, employment counseling, or resource navigation
