Direct Support Professional

Job Overview

Duties

• Assist client with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or Tram
• Monitorclient's vital signs and observe for changes in health or behavior to ensure safety and well-being
• Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to maintain compliance and confidentiality

• Support client to promote social engagement
• Maintain cleanliness of living spaces through regular cleaning tasks to ensure a safe environment
• Document care activities accurately
• Respond promptly to emergencies with first aid or CPR when necessary, ensuring client safety at all times
• Collaborate with family members to coordinate comprehensive care

Experience

• Prior experience in caregiving is required
• Demonstrated ability to work with people with developmental disabilities
• Knowledge of medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and patient observation techniques

• Training in first aid, CPR certification, HIPAA compliance, and safety procedures is required
• Familiarity with care plans \ client with complex needs
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when assisting client with mobility or transfers
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with client and family
