What are the responsibilities and job description for the Father the Fatherless: Volunteer Nonprofit Leaders (Admin, Ops, Tech & Outreach) position at Project Belong Maryland?
Organization: Project Belong Maryland
Location: Maryland / Remote
Commitment: 10 to 40 hours a week (Flexible & Life-Changing)
The Heart of the MissionThere is a unique and critical calling for the Church: To visit the orphan and to father the fatherless. In Maryland, nearly 4,000 children are navigating the foster care system—but they don't have to do it alone. Project Belong Maryland is on a mission to mobilize 5,000 local churches to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
We need volunteers who will step up to shepherd the process. This isn't just "volunteer work"—it’s a call to action. We’re working hard, working smart, and changing the trajectory of lives across the state.
We’re Looking for "Mission Builders" & "Shepherds"We are looking to expand our leadership team with high-capacity volunteers. We don't need one person to "do it all," but rather a team of dedicated leaders, both men and women, who will build the foundation required to scale our impact across Maryland. Whether you have 10 hours a week or 40, we want to match your unique professional gifts with our mission’s needs.
This is the perfect fit for:
- College Students or Recent Grads: Bring your fresh energy! Gain hands-on leadership experience and build a portfolio that actually matters.
- Seasoned Professionals: Want to use your hard-earned skills for more than just a paycheck? Donate your expertise to a cause with eternal ROI.
- Tech-Savvy Visionaries: Are you a developer or IT pro looking to build systems that solve real-world problems? We need your brainpower.
- Career-Breakers & Retirees: If you have time and a fire in your soul to serve, your experience is invaluable here.
- Executive Admin & Operations: Serve as a "right hand" to our leadership. Manage schedules, coordinate high-level communications, and ensure the administrative gears of the mission are turning smoothly.
- Technical & Development Support: Help us build and refine the digital backbone of our mission. This includes light web development, database management, automating workflows, or optimizing the "BatSignal" (Need Bridge) platform.
- Communications & Storytelling: Be our storyteller! Manage our social platforms, build our digital presence, and share the incredible stories of how God is moving through Project Belong.
- Child Welfare & Social Stars Advocacy: Build deep, professional relationships with county child welfare offices and social workers. Help us coordinate at the state and local levels to ensure the system works for the kids who need it most.
- The "BatSignal" Network: Manage our Need Bridge platform. When a social worker sends a signal for help, you ensure the local church is ready to answer the call.
- Fundraising & Development: Help us grow! Assist with donor relations, grant research, and events to build the financial engine that fuels our mission.
- Church Outreach & Advocacy: Be a voice for the vulnerable. Connect with Maryland congregations, speak at services, and recruit leaders.
- Event Architecture: Design and execute high-energy events like Stand Sunday or Pastor Breakfasts that inspire leaders to take action.
- Creative Design: Use your skills in Canva to keep our branding sharp, professional, and impactful.
- Faith-Aligned: A regular attender of a local Christian church who is passionate about the values of Project Belong.
- Mission-First: A heart for vulnerable children and families. Reliability and a teachable spirit are more important than a long resume.
- Interpersonal Spark: You enjoy connecting with people—whether it’s a pastor, a social worker, or a fellow volunteer.
- Future Potential: We are growing fast! As we build our financial base through fundraising, these volunteer roles have the potential to evolve into paid positions.
- Total Flexibility: We value your time. We will work with your schedule and your specific strengths to find a rhythm that works.
- Eternal Impact: You will see the immediate fruit of your labor as needs are met, families are supported, and children find belonging.
