About Project Angel Heart:
Our vision is for all Coloradans living with severe illness to have access to nutritious food that supports their health and well-being. To that end, we compassionately deliver comfort and support through high-quality nutrition services, including medically tailored meals, while also advocating for the principles of “Food is Medicine.” This year, we will prepare and deliver more than 800,000 meals to more than 5,000 people living with cancer, heart failure, HIV/AIDS, and other illnesses.
Position Overview: This part-time position delivers meals to clients in southern Colorado, mostly in Pueblo, and may support distribution activities as needed. Work is primarily performed on Saturdays with occasional schedule adjustments due to holidays or inclement weather.
Amount of Time and Status: Part-time, 2 – 5 hours per week, schedule determined by agency need.
Reports to: Senior Manager, Volunteer Resources
Compensation: $21 per hour plus mileage reimbursement
Essential Responsibilities:
- Delivers meals to clients in a safe, timely, and professional manner using personal vehicle
- Stages delivery routes and supporting materials prior to distribution as needed
- Provides courteous and respectful service to clients
- Communicates delivery concerns, route issues, or client needs to Project Angel Heart staff
- Adheres to food safety and handling procedures
- Maintains accurate delivery records and required paperwork
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Personal vehicle required and ability to maintain current automobile insurance coverage
- Dependability and reliability with strong time and task management skills
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Willingness and ability to maintain confidential information and appropriate boundaries
- Willingness and ability to work with and honor diverse populations
- Valid Colorado driver's license with good driving record
Working Environment/Physical Activities
Work is performed primarily in a vehicle but may also include a walk-in freezer, cooler, and warehouse setting. Physical activities include driving, lifting and carrying meal bags, entering and exiting a vehicle repeatedly, and communicating with clients and staff in person and by phone.
Compensation:
Hourly rate is $21/hour. One hour of paid sick time is accrued for every 30 hours worked.
