What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traveling Commercial Journeyman Electrician position at Progressive Technology Systems Inc.?
We are looking for a skilled Traveling Commercial Journeyman Electrician to join our team for commercial construction and remodel projects.
We need someone with strong commercial electrical experience who can work independently, read prints, troubleshoot problems, and complete installations correctly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Perform commercial electrical installations from rough-in through completion
- Read and understand electrical drawings, specifications, and schedules
- Layout and install EMT conduit
- Bend conduit accurately, including offsets, kicks, saddles, and larger conduit
- Install MC cable, boxes, supports, panels, disconnects, and electrical equipment
- Pull, terminate, and identify branch circuit and feeder conductors
- Install and troubleshoot lighting, receptacles, switches, and other electrical devices
- Perform panel terminations and circuit identification
- Install underground PVC and electrical systems
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and complete punch-list work
- Coordinate work with project management and other trades
- Help guide apprentices and less-experienced electricians when needed
- Maintain a clean and safe jobsite
What We're Looking For
- Strong commercial electrical experience required
- Must be able to work independently without constant supervision
- Must be proficient with EMT conduit bending and installation
- Must be able to read and work from electrical blueprints
- Strong understanding of commercial wiring methods and electrical materials
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in the field
- Must have your own basic hand tools
- Must be dependable and show up when scheduled
- Good communication and ability to work as part of a crew
- Quality of work and productivity are both important
Travel Requirements
This is a traveling position.
- Must be willing and able to travel for commercial projects
- Projects may require being out of town for multiple weeks at a time
- Must be comfortable working the project schedule while traveling
- Reliable transportation to the required meeting/travel location is required

Preferred Experience
Experience with the following is strongly preferred:
- Commercial remodels and ground-up construction
- EMT and PVC conduit
- Service and feeder installations
- Electrical panels and transformers
- Lighting and lighting controls
- Underground electrical
- Equipment connections
- Troubleshooting
- Reading one-lines, panel schedules, and electrical floor plans
- Leading or assisting less-experienced electricians
We're looking for a real commercial electrician who can be trusted to get work done. You should be able to receive a scope of work, understand what needs to happen, and move the job forward without needing someone standing over you.
