CONTROLLER (Permanent)
Our client, a successful and growing law firm in WNY, is looking to hire a Controller to join their team. This is a newly created role open due to growth that directly supports the Director of Finance. Business casual environment with a team-focused culture (lunches, events, celebrations, etc.).
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Director of Finance, this will be a key partner overseeing & performing daily Accounting Operations responsibilities & Financial Reporting functions contributing to the overall financial success of the organization
- Oversee Accounts Payable/Receivable, and G/L activities
- Oversee billing (including pre-bill review, edits, and final invoicing) and coordinate with attorneys and billing staff to ensure accurate and timely billing
- Perform monthly/quarterly/annual close processes and ensure reporting is precise
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, financial transactions, financial statements, and monitor cash flow
- Analyze financial trends, variances, KPIs, WIP, aging, billing velocity,
- Regularly review transactions to ensure proper classifications
- Collaborate with internal and external team members on audits by preparing financial documents/reports
- Create and present financial presentations to upper leadership, providing clear and complete information
- Manage trust accounting operations, monitor trust activity
- Analyze current processes, reporting tools, technologies, and workflows to identify gaps/shortcomings and offer educated, actionable recommendations for improvement; develop and enhance reporting tools, KPIs, and dashboards
- Complete special projects in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned/as necessary
Details:
- Position is full-time, direct hire
- 100% in-office; Monday through Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm
- $90,000 - $110,000 annually depending on experience
- Parking ramp is available for a monthly pre-tax payment

- Bachelor’s degree; CPA preferred
- 5 years progressive accounting experience (full -cycle accounting, close processes, reconciliations, financial reporting, data analysis, GAAP)
- Experience from law firm required
- Proficient computer skills, including advanced Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis, etc.)
- Great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong organization skills and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-motivated
- Relocation not available

Salary : $80,000 - $110,000
