Job Summary
We're looking for a motivated mechanic with expertise in 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines to diagnose, repair, and maintain small engines and power equipment. You'll play a key role in keeping our customers' equipment safe, reliable, and running at peak performance.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines, including lawn equipment and other lawn & garden power equipment.
- Use hand tools, power tools, schematics, and diagnostic equipment (such as ohmmeters) to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.
- Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, filter replacements, and engine tune-ups to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Repair engines, fuel systems, electrical wiring, and other mechanical components using proper tools and techniques.
- Read technical schematics and manuals to identify problems and carry out effective repairs.
- Keep accurate, detailed service records for all repairs performed.
- Follow safety protocols at all times when handling tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
- Must possess organizational skills and maintain a clean working environment.
- Must be able to look up various parts in our search databases.
Experience & Skills
- Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining small engines.
- Solid understanding of engine operation and electrical systems, including using online parts look-up tools.
- Experience troubleshooting with schematics and diagnostic equipment such as ohmmeters.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to accurately identify issues.
- Diesel mechanic experience is a plus, but not required; a strong grasp of mechanical fundamentals is what matters most.
- Hourly rate depends on experience level.
