Position Summary

The HR/Operations (HRO) Coordinator is a cross-functional position designed to strengthen the employee experience while improving training consistency, accelerating employee development, and increasing the effectiveness of supervisors and managers through timely employee feedback, coaching support, and cross-functional coordination.

This role serves as the primary coordinator for new employee onboarding, operator training progression, and first-year employee support. The HRO Coordinator acts as the bridge between Human Resources, Operations, Supervisors, Trainers, and employees, ensuring new hires receive a consistent, positive, and well-organized introduction to Progressive Converting.

The position is intended to improve onboarding quality, increase employee engagement, support operator development, improve retention, and allow HR Managers and Production Supervisors to devote more time to higher-value operational and strategic responsibilities.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Employee Onboarding & Integration

  • Coordinate and conduct New Hire Orientation, including first day onboarding activities.
  • Conduct facility tours and departmental introductions; supervisors, trainers, mentors, and key company contacts.
  • Ensure all onboarding documentation and required first-day training activities are completed.
  • Serve as the primary Human Resources and Operations liaison for employees during their first ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Conduct scheduled employee check-ins during the 90-day evaluation period to monitor engagement, answer questions, and identify concerns before they become retention issues.

2. Training & Employee Development

  • Coordinate training activities and progression through the Operator Development Program for both new hires and experienced employees.
  • Monitor training progress and conduct routine morale and engagement check-ins with those participating in Operator Development Program.
  • Identify potential obstacles and coaching opportunities for supervisors and trainers.
  • Maintain training documentation to track progress and completion.
  • Coordinate certification paperwork and progression milestones with supervisors, trainers, and employees.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordination of operator certifications as needed.
  • Help supervisors prepare for meaningful employee discussions.
  • Assist in monitoring first-year employee engagement and identifying retention risks.
  • Provide recommendations to improve onboarding and training effectiveness

3. Operations Coordination

  • Serve as a communication liaison between Human Resources and Operations regarding employee onboarding and training activities.
  • Assist with production documentation and administrative workflow as assigned.
  • Provide administrative support to Operations leadership as workload permits.
  • Assist with special projects supporting production efficiency and employee development.

4. Administrative Support (As Needed)

  • Provide limited front office coverage when necessary
  • Assist with administrative functions during staffing shortages or peak workload periods

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, Communications, Psychology, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Previous manufacturing and/or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent follow-through.
  • Comfortable interacting with employees at all organizational levels.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn company software systems.

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
