Malvern Treatment Centers is currently seeking a full-time Residential Director for our Malvern Treatment Center facility in Willow Grove! Our Malvern Treatment Center- Willow Grove campus provides inpatient treatment to over 100 patients providing both detoxification and rehabilitation. This program provides a unique treatment experience that incorporates evidence-based treatment approaches, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) options, and a trauma-informed milieu, which includes supportive, professional staff and a peer interaction process that fosters growth.

The Residential Director position is a full-time opportunity and is a newly created leadership position. The primary responsibilities of the Residential Director are to provide senior management leadership and oversight to all residential service staff (Shift Supervisors and Clinical Aides), support the delivery of safe, high-quality direct patient care and related support services, being accountable for daily operations, staff supervision, and service coordination within the residential program; all while promoting patient safety, wellness, and overall well-being.

Summary of Essential Position Functions:

  • Provides key leadership to Shift Supervisors, in partnership with and to strengthen Clinical Aide staff and sustain a positive clinical culture aligned with Malvern’s Four Pillars.

  • Oversees Shift Supervisors who create schedules for the Clinical Aides, ensuring appropriate unit coverage and continuity of care.

  • Ensures adherence to organizational policies and procedures and supports the implementation of new or revised processes.

  • Facilitates regular staff meetings to address departmental priorities, communicate updates, and provide supervision and guidance.

  • Supports employee performance management, including coaching, performance improvement planning, corrective action, and ongoing follow-through.

  • Participates in the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of Clinical Aides and Shift Supervisors, as needed and in close coordination with the AED.

  • Manages Shift Supervisors, ensuring functional daily staffing operations, including break coverage and support for schedule adjustments related to call-outs or census changes.

  • Shift Supervisors are responsible for receiving call-outs for their assigned shifts; this role assists with securing and approving coverage as needed.

  • Partners with Shift Supervisors to provide staff support, coaching, and timely follow-up on performance-related matters.

  • Ensures appropriate personnel completes incident reports accurately and within required timeframes.

  • May assist with coordinating outside appointments for patients during treatment, such as dental, identification, benefits, or similar service needs.

  • Serves as a liaison among Admissions, Nursing, and Clinical departments to support effective communication and coordination of care.

  • Performs administrative responsibilities that enable Shift Supervisors to provide real-time, hands-on mentoring to Clinical Aides.

  • Provides additional therapeutic support and intervention for patients when clinically indicated.

  • Attends and participates in all required management meetings, training, and professional development activities.

  • Maintains all required documentation and completes annual training requirements in accordance with organizational standards.

  • Demonstrates willingness to assist in a clinical capacity when patient census and staffing needs require additional support.

  • Ensures the safety and integrity of the milieu is maintained and in conformity with all required residential regulations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Qualifications: The individual in this role must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The position requires a client-focused, team-oriented professional with strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility in responding to changing workload, emergency situations, or staffing needs, dependable judgment, sound problem-solving ability, and a strong commitment to compliance and quality performance. The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for success in the role. Education and/or Experience: A master’s degree is required with licensure preferred. Five years of relevant experience in SUD and minimum of two years of progressive management experience also required. A degree from an accredited college in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing, human services is required.

 

Technical/Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Proficient. Knowledge of addiction and basic management principles.

 

Emergency Classification: Essential Personnel

 

Work Environment and Hazards: Works in well-lighted, well-ventilated area, with high traffic flow of patients, visitors, staff, and others.

Employee may be exposed to:

  • Internal/External disasters in which appropriate policies, procedures, and plans must be followed to protect patients and staff
  • Infections/communicable diseases and hazardous/toxic agents.
  • Encounter some chemicals listed in the SDS sheets.
  • Other: Participates in therapeutic crisis intervention with physically aggressive patients which may involve some personal risk.

Physical Requirements: Requires sufficient body mobility to accomplish essential functions. Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to bend, stoop, and kneel with ease. Requires walking and standing often. Requires frequently speaking on the telephone. Must be able to occasionally lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Able to intervene with individuals weighing up to 250 pounds. Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions. Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. Communicating fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing in English. Ability to appropriately interact with all program staff, patients, visitors, attending Physicians, and other department representatives.

Travel Required: Travel to meetings, training, community outreach and other Malvern sites as required.
