Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Toolmaker to join our manufacturing team. Duties
- Assist in the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC machining equipment including CNC lathe and milling machines
- Learn to interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings using GD&T standards for precise fabrication
- Support manual machining tasks using hand tools, grinders, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement instruments
- Participate in the fabrication and assembly of tooling components such as dies and fixtures for stamping presses and production machining
- Gain experience in CNC programming and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to develop tool paths for machining operations
- Help with maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) of shop equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Contribute to quality control by measuring parts with precision instruments and ensuring adherence to specifications
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or coursework in manufacturing or mechanical trades is a plus
- Basic understanding of shop math and mechanical blueprint interpretation
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD is preferred
- Hands-on experience with manual machining tools including lathes, grinders, milling machines, and hand tools
- Knowledge of CNC machining processes including CNC programming and setup is advantageous
- Strong mechanical aptitude with an interest in metal machining and tooling processes
- Excellent attention to detail for precision measurement using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools
- Willingness to learn new skills through on-the-job training in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
