What are the responsibilities and job description for the Progressive Tool and Die Maker position at PROGRESS TOOL AND DIE?
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) files to determine specifications for tool and die fabrication
- Set up and operate various machine tools such as milling machines, lathes, grinders, and drill presses to fabricate and repair tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures
- Use hand tools and precision measuring instruments to ensure proper fit and function of finished products
- Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects using precision measuring instruments
- Test completed tools or dies to ensure that they meet specifications
- Troubleshoot issues with tools or dies and make necessary repairs or adjustments
- Collaborate with engineers and other team members to develop new tooling designs or improve existing ones
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker or similar role
- Proficiency in operating various machine tools such as milling machines, lathes, grinders, and drill presses
- Strong knowledge of machining techniques and principles
- Familiarity with stamping press operations
- Ability to read blueprints, sketches, or CAD files to fabricate tooling components
- Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other CAD software is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
