Instructor

This position is designed to support members in achieving their personalized goals by providing opportunities to develop independent and adaptive living skills, foster community involvement, and encourage social engagement in alignment with the agency’s mission. The instructor reports to the Program Director and is responsible for meeting specific objectives set in collaboration with the Director.

· Develops and implements individualized goals for members, focusing on skill-building, independence, and personal growth.

· Plan and teach engaging classes such as life skills, art, math, science, literacy, or other innovative programs aligned with members' interests and needs.

· Encourages creativity and welcomes new ideas for classes, workshops, or activities that enhance members’ learning and participation.

· Coordinates and leads community outings, events, and activities to promote socialization, inclusion, and real-world application of skills.

· Provides ongoing, on-site training and support to both enclave and sheltered employment participants.

· Accurately prepares and submits required daily, monthly, and quarterly reports, including individual support services and fiscal documentation for reimbursement.

· Maintains and oversees complete, up-to-date member records in compliance with OIDD, First Health, Department of Labor, and other regulatory agencies.

· Drive agency vehicles safely and responsibly, maintaining proper licensure, insurance, and all required documentation.

· Transports members to employment sites, volunteer opportunities, and community inclusion activities.

· Collects, maintains, and submits accurate and legible documentation and data as required by agency and regulatory standards.

· Adheres strictly to all OIDD standards, policies, and directives.

· Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.

· Is 21 years or older

· Maintains a South Carolina Driver’s License

· Has a good driver’s record as well as appropriate car insurance.

· Will pass required background checks (SLED, DSS, Medicaid, National Sex Registry, etc.)

· Has available and reliable transportation.

· Has written and oral communication skills.

· Willing to work flexible hours as needed.

· Able to perform a variety of tasks, often changing responsibilities on short notice.

· Has the ability to be an advocate for individuals with disabilities.

· Willing to communicate professionally and effectively with the general public.

· Is self-started and able to work independently and autonomously.

· Is team oriented and driven.

· Ability to lift 20 lbs. minimally, crouching, bending, reaching, standing, walking, running, etc.

· Ability to operate a van and other equipment.

· Must be able to write, read small print, and record data accurately with adequate detail.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
