Job Title: Principal Software Engineer

Location: Tucson, AZ- Onsite

• We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to help shape the future of FrontRunner, the world's leading autonomous haulage platform.
• We are not looking for someone who has only advised on large systems. We are looking for someone who has personally delivered them.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

• Deliver large, complex software systems that operate in production and create measurable customer value.
• Own outcomes, not just designs, recommendations, or technical direction.
• Drive execution across multiple teams, removing obstacles and creating clarity where complexity and ambiguity exist.
• Raise the technical bar through hands-on leadership, mentorship, and engineering excellence.

Required Skills

• Demonstrated history of delivering large-scale software systems to customers, including ownership from concept through production deployment and operational support.
• 10 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong software design and development experience, including Java and distributed systems.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and technical leaders.
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ensure the quality and reliability of software through rigorous testing and code reviews.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation to support ongoing development and maintenance.
• Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring projects finish on time and within budget.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the team.
