Position Summary
PDS is seeking an experienced and dynamic Comptroller to join our executive leadership team. This senior management role is integral to strengthening the organization's financial operations and strategic planning capabilities. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Comptroller will oversee daily financial functions, ensure compliance and accuracy in reporting, and provide analytical insight to guide decision-making. This position may serve as Acting Director of Finance when needed.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Leadership
- Partner with the Director of Finance to implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Support long-term financial planning, risk mitigation, and organizational sustainability.
- Financial Operations Oversight
- Manage day-to-day operations including A/P, A/R, payroll, and the general ledger.
- Lead monthly and year-end closing processes with accuracy and timeliness.
- Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare financial statements, forecasts, and budget-to-actual reports.
- Provide actionable financial analysis to senior leadership and program directors.
- Participate in board and stakeholder financial presentations.
- Compliance & Controls
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance in the preparation and filing of financial reports, including Consolidated Fiscal Reports (CFR), to regulatory bodies in accordance with applicable guidelines.
- Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors and financial institutions.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Supervise finance team members; mentor junior staff and promote professional development.
- Foster a collaborative, solutions-oriented culture within the department.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with program and operations teams to develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Support interdepartmental projects with financial insight and guidance.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in finance/accounting roles.
- Supervisory experience with direct reports.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Proficiency in Fund EZ, other financial software.
- Familiarity with funding structures regulated by the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) is highly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with the full CFR preparation process, including data gathering, reconciliation, and submission in compliance with guidelines from NYS agencies is highly preferred.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $135,000 commensurate with the selected candidate's professional experience and qualifications.

Location
The Comptroller is expected to work onsite at PDS headquarters in Industry City, Brooklyn. Industry City is conveniently located near the MTA’s 36th Street N-R-D subway station, just one stop from Atlantic Avenue. PDS has programs throughout Brooklyn, and in Manhattan and the Bronx, and occasional travel to these locations may be required.
