All Clinical Registered Nurse Specialist candidates for the Emergency Department will have the following job responsibilities :
- The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) demonstrates an advanced level of professional competence in a specialized area of nursing practice.
- The CNS influences care outcomes by providing expert consultation and implementing improvements in patient care delivery.
- Specifically, the CNS leads in the development of nursing practice that incorporates established national specialty practice guidelines, regulatory requirements, an interdisciplinary framework, outcomes from nursing and healthcare research, best practices changes in healthcare that impact patient care delivery; and advances in technology that support efficient and effective patient care.
- The key roles of the CNS include practitioner, educator, leader, consultant and researcher.
