Patient Care Coordinator

Role Overview: The Patient Care Coordinator supports healthcare operations by managing patient information, verifying insurance, scheduling appointments, and ensuring accurate medical records. They work collaboratively with care teams to deliver excellent customer service, handle patient check-ins/outs, collect co-pays, and follow-up on referrals and lab results. The role requires maintaining confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA and OSHA standards, and working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather and update patient details, verify insurance on the day of service, and obtain necessary signatures.
• Answer calls courteously, schedule appointments, and assist with registration workflows.
• Manage medical records, correct registration errors, and ensure proper documentation and scanning.
• Collect payments, perform follow-ups, and coordinate with clinical staff for schedule changes.
• Support administrative policies, participate in onboarding, and perform additional duties as required.
  
  

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of medical office experience with duties like scheduling, insurance verification, and record management.
• Intermediate skills in MS Office and web applications.
• Preferred: experience with electronic health records (EPIC), medical terminology, and scheduling programs.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, communication, and independent working skills.
