Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Kaukauna, WI, for a Paint Prep / Finisher.
The Paint Prep / Finisher supports the industrial coating process by preparing parts before paint, handling and staging material throughout the shop, masking components, performing touch-up work, and helping ensure finished parts meet customer and quality requirements.
This role is a key part of the production team. The work directly affects coating quality, schedule reliability, and how parts look when they leave the facility. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, willing to work with their hands, and comfortable in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Move, stage, and handle industrial parts, fabricated steel, and assemblies throughout the production process
- Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing parts before and after blasting and painting
- Prepare parts for coating, including cleaning, sanding, grinding, masking, and other prep work as required
- Mask areas that should not receive paint, including machined surfaces, threads, openings, hardware, and customer-specified areas
- Inspect parts for missed areas, defects, handling marks, overspray, or other finish issues
- Perform touch-up painting and minor finish repair as needed
- Assist painters and blasters with setup, staging, cleanup, and production flow
- Follow job travelers, work instructions, coating specifications, and quality requirements
- Help package, protect, and stage finished parts for shipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all company safety procedures and properly use required PPE
Qualifications
- Experience in industrial painting, paint prep, finishing, fabrication, manufacturing, or material handling preferred
- Ability to safely handle, move, and stage parts in an industrial shop environment
- Experience with masking, sanding, grinding, cleaning, or touch-up painting is a plus
- Basic understanding of industrial coatings, surface prep, or finish quality is helpful
- Strong attention to detail and pride in finished work
- Ability to follow written instructions, job travelers, and safety procedures
- Comfortable working around cranes, forklifts, large parts, paint, dust, and industrial equipment
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift materials as needed, and perform repetitive tasks
- Dependable attendance and ability to work as part of a production team
- Previous experience in manufacturing, fabrication, automotive refinishing, industrial painting, or coatings is an advantage
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
