Job Summary:
Under the direction of a supervising BCBA, the ABA therapist provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities; collects/inputs data into the EMR system to create graphs, and implements any behavior modification strategies as outlined by the BCBA for each client. The ABA Therapist is responsible for individual child’s care during the duration of their session including: mealtime, potty training/diaper changing and time in related services.
Job Description:
This position will be filled by a Part-Time, Per Diem Staff Member. Candidates should be available afternoons, evenings and/or Saturdays.
Essential Functions:
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
- Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each program plan as directed by the client’s BCBA.
- Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning to enable students to meet their goals as directed by the client’s BCBA.
- Provides input to the client’s team in developing instructional goals and strategies.
- Creates a positive learning experience with emphasis on individualized instruction using appropriate sources of reinforcement as directed by the client’s BCBA.
- Serves as a liaison between the client’s families and the BCBA/ clinical team.
- Establishes and maintains student control and discipline in the center, home, and in the community.
- Employs and implements consistency to encourage client growth and development.
- Manages the child’s care during the duration of their session including: mealtime, potty training/diaper changing, and time in related services.
- Collects and inputs data into the EMR system to create graph for each program/target.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of applied behavior analysis
- Thorough knowledge of center rules, regulations and procedures; ability to establish and maintain standards of behavior.
- Ability to effectively analyze needs and problems objectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration and the public.
- Knowledge of relevant technology.
- Knowledge and skills in working with children with ASD and behavior and emotional disabilities.
- Must have the proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
- Must pass background check.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 50 pounds.
