Customs Entry Writer | Full-Time
Wood-Ridge, NJ vicinity | On-site role
Key Duties:
- Review, sort, and verify import documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate with Customer Service teams when additional client information or paperwork is required.
- Classify shipments according to system data and adhere to client-specific procedures.
- Assist the Import Supervisor with classification tasks and compliance-related responsibilities.
- Research and assign HTS/product codes as needed, ensuring correct data for future reference.
- Enter entry details into the system and manage FDA/PGA requirements, including monitoring for “may proceed” statuses.
- Notify customers promptly when FDA inspections—document or physical—are necessary.
- Prepare delivery orders and clearly note FDA release information.
- Provide written hold instructions to carriers or ocean lines when shipments require release clearance.
- Confirm that shipments are fully cleared and properly released.
- Forward finalized files to the Post-Entry team for completion and filing.
- Track release statuses from U.S. Customs, FDA, and other agencies; troubleshoot census flags or entry discrepancies.
- Identify and correct errors related to bills of lading or other documents.
Required Skills & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in entry writing or customs brokerage operations (with emphasis on data entry and PGA processes).
- Familiarity with CargoWise One preferred; experience with QuestaWeb is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of U.S. and international geography, including major cities and seaports.
- Competent with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Able to work with minimal supervision while maintaining strong customer service standards.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
