What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Service Technician position at Professional Pool & Spa Services of Vermont?
Pool Service Technician
ProPoolsVT.com · Waterbury, VT 05672
$22–$30/hour | Full-time | Seasonal or year-round | Driver's license required
ABOUT THE ROLE
ProPoolsVT.com is a locally owned pool service company serving the Stowe, Waterbury, and central Vermont region. We're looking for a hands-on pool service technician to join our team — someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys building real relationships with the clients they serve.
You'll be out in the field each day keeping residential and commercial pools clean, safe, and running smoothly. You'll handle everything from water chemistry and routine maintenance to equipment troubleshooting and minor repairs. No two days are exactly the same, and your work has a direct, visible impact on our customers' outdoor spaces.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Perform routine pool cleaning: skim, vacuum, brush walls, and empty skimmer baskets to maintain optimal water quality
- Test and balance water chemistry — pH, chlorine, alkalinity, and calcium hardness — to ensure safe swimming conditions
- Inspect and troubleshoot pool equipment including pumps, filters, heaters, chlorinators, and timers; identify issues promptly
- Repair or replace faulty equipment using hand tools and power tools to restore proper operation
- Maintain detailed service records of all work performed, including inspections, repairs, and chemical treatments
- Communicate clearly with clients about service updates, safety, and maintenance recommendations
- Adhere to safety protocols at every service visit
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Valid Vermont driver's license and clean driving record — required
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions with a positive attitude
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in equipment repair, maintenance, or a similar trades role — pool experience preferred but not required; we'll train the right person
- Familiarity with pool cleaning techniques and chemical balancing a plus
- Proficient with hand tools and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a daily service route
- CPO (Certified Pool Operator) certification a plus — we can help you get certified
WHAT WE OFFER
- $22–$30/hour depending on experience — above Vermont's $14.42/hr minimum and competitive with the regional market
- All tools, equipment, and supplies provided
- Flexible scheduling — full-time seasonal or potential year-round role
- Small, supportive team where your contributions are noticed and valued
- Clear path to grow into a lead technician or crew supervisor role
