What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Technician - Manager position at Professional Management of Oregon, LLC?
GENERAL PURPOSE – SPD EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervise SPD leads on inpatient and outpatient sides.
Support & occasionally manage the workflows and staff members of both departments (MMC and ORSC) – keeps up with directions needed to open/close/after hours staffing
Approves or Manages the scheduling for both sides, shifts staffing around according to the surgery schedules on both sides.
Creates clear and concise expectations to staff, helps create individual plans for staff if they are struggling or want additional guidance/help. Gives obtainable targets for growth for all employees.
- Handles any coaching duties that need to be done
Daily check ins with both MMC and ORSC OR for any comments or concerns regarding sterile prep that need to be addressed
Addresses interdepartmental issues and helps resolve/come up with solutions for staff members.
- Communicates with director of surgical services of issues if the arise
Hands on and fills in on either side when help is needed (call ins, busy days, vacations)
Audits the records to make sure they are accurately being filled out, follows up with staff if changes need to be made.
Facilitates education for staff with the help of the RN educator
Ability to do specific check in on processing of specialty instruments. For example: trauma, robots, mako, etc.
Coordinates and schedules the instrument repair with outside Repair Company. ○ Works with the Leads to coordinate best date for sides to have adequate time to get instruments repaired
Consistent person to be asking for status updates with biomed regarding anything to do with equipment.
Clear competency checks for staff that are all done the same.
Works with employees when doing competency checks to make sure any questions are able to be answered and resources given to staff when needed. ● Keeps both departments in compliance with quality and standards with the assistance of the Leads as necessary

Helps facilitate adequate training programs for new staff members and delegates training to SPD staff accordingly.
Works with the SPD Leads to make sure training is going as needed
Creating a timeline of expectation and expectations of what should be being learned at what time
Annual record filing and organization
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) and Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) certification required before hire.
- High school or GED. Able to read and understand English fluently and do basic arithmetic. Previous Sterile Processing experience required.
- Ability to communicate well both verbally and in written form.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to work under stress.
Job Type: Full-time
Base Pay: $30.00 - $38.00 per hour
