Professional Instruments company designs and manufactures the worlds most accurate air bearing spindles and is a multi-generational family owned business. We specialize in precision grinding and assembly to tolerances much more advanced than a typical machine shop. We have a long history of training employees from the ground up with hands on training. Our shop is quiet, clean, and employees tend to stay. Currently, our employees average over 20 years with the company.
Position:
Entry Level Machinist
As a high end, close tolerance machine shop we are searching for applicants with a high attention to detail and a quality work ethic. We do not require any experience, but we need applicants who have a great deal of mechanical aptitude and willingness to work towards learning a trade. We provide training on various specialized machinery and measuring techniques, progressing trainees through a series of positions that allow long term growth and development.
This position provides the option to take generous overtime. The training wage increases automatically, and benefits begin after 90 days.

- Must have a High Mechanical Aptitude (will be tested)
- Able to learn and understand work instructions such as blue prints
- Able to understand and comply with safety rules
- Will dependably work scheduled hours
- Able to read, write, and speak English
- Have a positive mind-set toward repetitive tasks
Physical requirements:
- Able to stand for long periods
- Must have sufficient dexterity to load and clamp parts, adjust machine controls, and to effectively use measuring tools.
- Able to tolerate the general work environment including cutting fluids.
- Able to load and unload parts from a variety of machines at varying heights
- Must be able to hear and see well enough (with or without correction) to monitor these processes.
