Bookkeeping Specialist
Position Summary
We are a precision manufacturing company seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Bookkeeping Specialist with at least 2 years of hands-on experience. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, entering and maintaining accounts payable and receivable, understanding a balance sheet and income statement, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations.
In a small company setting, this position requires someone who is comfortable with task flexibility, cross training, working with a team, and taking ownership of the accuracy and organization of our records.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Records & Reporting
- Understand the company’s Balance sheet.
- General understanding of cash based accounting.
- submit transactions accurately and consistently.
- Maintain fixed asset information and generate year end reports.
- Understand vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor cash flow and maintain organized, audit-ready documentation.
- Submit New hire reporting.
Payroll
- Maintain Payroll records, direct deposit and benefit deductions.
- Monitor for errors and correct employee records.
- Submit state and federal tax payments and quarterly forms.
- Generate annual W-2s.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Submit accurate coding of vendor bills and customer invoices.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Generate and send invoices.
- Monitor receivables and assist with collections when needed.
Administrative & Process Support
- Enter sales information and generate packing slips.
- Update computer systems for job tracking.
- Answer and direct incoming calls if needed.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes.
Qualifications
- 2 years of practical accounting experience.
- understanding of general accounting principles.
- Experience with accounting software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Comfortable working in a small, team-oriented environment.
