Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to join our team, reporting to the Fire Alarm Service Manager. This role is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems and related safety equipment. The ideal candidate ensures all systems meet applicable codes, standards, and company quality expectations while delivering excellent service in commercial and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, program, and commission fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial settings
- Perform inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes
- Troubleshoot and repair system issues, including wiring and device failures
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company policies
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and documentation
- Communicate effectively with customers, project managers, and team members
- Provide guidance and support to apprentices and junior technicians
- Stay current with industry codes, technologies, and best practices
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to work in various environments, including commercial and industrial job sites
- Ability to lift, carry, and work with tools and equipment as needed
- Capability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces when required
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years of experience with fire alarm systems (installation, service, or inspection)
- Knowledge of NFPA 72 and related fire/life safety codes
- Relevant certifications (NICET, state electrical license, or manufacturer certifications) preferred
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and wiring diagrams
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation
