Job Summary
This position oversees the front desk and safety operations of PCS and they are expected to model respect, and encourage and promote positive interactions with each student and colleague.
Essential Duties And Job Responsibilities
Front Desk
Perform other duties as assigned.
There are school events that may require this person to work evenings or weekends.

Must be able to complete and be certified as an unarmed security guard through the New York State’s Security Guard training program https://dos.ny.gov/security-guard within 3 months of employment.
Must be able to complete prior to school starting in September 2026, coursework and be F-07 certified (Certificate of Fitness) to ensure that fire drills are conducted in a safe and orderly process.
Must be able to complete First Aid and CPR certification prior to school starting in September 2026.
This position requires a “team-player” with a high-level of organizational and communication skills. This person is responsible for holding the community accountable for their safety and security and should demonstrate excellent judgment, discretion and integrity under pressure. A successful candidate will be able to think on his/her feet and will be adept at problem solving. Focused attention to detail is important. An ideal candidate is outgoing, enjoys working with children and is a self-starter.
Preferred
Knowledge of database management programs is preferred, and Microsoft office is a must.

Essential Duties And Job Responsibilities
Front Desk
- Greeting all arrivals
- Ensuring that all students and employees sign-in/sign-out using the School’s security system.
- Checking in all Guests and Vendors on the School’s security program, including checking ID and calling the person who the guest is onsite to meet
- Monitoring the arrival and dismissal of all students throughout the day
- Accepting packages
- Sorting Mail.
- Generating and maintaining safety and security guidelines that align with independent school’s best practices to provide a reliable security presence at PCS.
- Securing the exits and entrances and monitoring the sidewalk outside the school
- Monitoring the security cameras
- Reporting all security and safety issues to the Director of Finance and Operations in a timely manner
- Partner with HR and administrators in cases requiring internal investigation, such as providing access to and reviewing security video footage
- Provide an end-of-day safety report to the Director of Finance and Operations and the Head of School
- Serve on the Health and Safety Committee to conduct safety audits and risk assessments. Identify potential security risks and propose enhancements to policies and procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with NYPD and FDNY and local doormen.
- Coordinating all drills with the Director of Finance and Operations
- During fire drill, stopping traffic to ensure the safety of students crossing the street and providing the all clear for people to return to the school or engage in regular activity.
- Recording all drill information as required by the FDNY
- Reviewing lockdown and fire drill procedures monthly with the Director of Finance and Operations.
- Annually review the Emergency Procedures Manual with the Director of Finance and Operations
