Objective
The part-time Vehicle Mechanic Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance of all Chicago-based fleet vehicles, as well as the supervision and daily oversight of one to two student mechanics who assist with routine tasks, maintenance, and shop operations.
Essential Functions

- Carry out maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles in fleet, ensuring they are in good working condition, safe, and ready for operation.
- Services all MBI vehicles (Maintenance, Fleet, Public Safety, etc.) on the Chicago Campus
- Ensures vehicles are clean and fueled each week
- Provide routine weekly maintenance, including oil and lube service, adjusting or replacing headlights and taillights, and performing tire rotations.
- Assists in record keeping and licensing of all MBI owned vehicles
- Examines vehicle maintenance needs, provides estimates and inspects the extent of damage or malfunction of vehicle and discusses with the supervisor.
- Creates plan of action for regular maintenance and repairs
- Contacts local repair shop if maintenance is needed
- Ensuring all vehicles meet safety standards and regulations
- Provide leadership, direction, and hands-on training to student mechanics.
- Assign daily tasks to student mechanics, monitor performance, and ensure quality and safety standards are upheld.
- Model professionalism, safe work habits, and effective maintenance practices for student workers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- HS diploma or GED.
- Skilled in vehicle maintenance, with at least two years of experience in formal vehicle maintenance work.
- Able to work at least 25 hours per week.
- Authorized to work legally in the US without sponsorship
Preferred Requirements
- Professional experience in an auto maintenance shop.
- ASE certifications

This job operates in a typical auto maintenance environment. This role routinely uses standard auto maintenance tools and equipment as well as computers and telephones. This role will require physical labor including but not limited to servicing and cleaning various sized vehicles.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear as well as use physical strength. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is required to sit; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Hours: Monday – Friday 7:00am – 5:00pm (Flexible)
Minimal travel is expected for this position.
