Position Summary
Responsible for supervision of network and help desk staff and for overseeing administration of the credit unions LAN/WAN, telephone system, application servers, enterprise backups, SAN, and other systems as required. Primary focus is optimizing the performance of help desk and network staff to maximize network integrity, security, and reliability and ensure prioritization of projects and help desk tickets. Coordinate network support functions, including the research and installation of hardware and software products and upgrades as approved. Responsible for reporting these system changes, documenting processes, and maintaining an accurate inventory of all hardware and software. Provide effective, ongoing communication to the Vice President/Information Systems, essential to outlining projects, addressing departmental challenges, identifying opportunities and concerns, and conducting system reviews.
Qualifications
Requires a well-organized, flexible, and highly motivated individual with a minimum of ten (10) years of extensive experience in computer networking and a four (4) year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar. This person must have a strong understanding of networking principles, protocols, and technologies including Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory, Microsoft Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), Microsoft Exchange, VMware, and Cisco routers and switches. Should be proficient in configuring and troubleshooting network hardware and software including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks. Must have a solid grasp of network security concepts and practices, including encryption, authentication, access control, and security policies. Must be able to handle data processing emergencies such as a down system. Must be able to effectively manage, motivate, and mentor staff and promote a positive, professional attitude. Requires analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to target, research, and solve problems while implementing solutions in a timely manner. Position requires off-hours and weekend work.

Clear and effective communication abilities are required. Must be able to view a terminal screen and operate a computer keyboard. Must be able to perform moderate to heavy lifting. Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods. The ability to travel is required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervise network and help desk staff, monitor project progress and prioritization, and guide as needed
- Ensure network procedures and diagrams are updated and that change management procedures are being followed
- Monitor and manage network capacity of servers and storage
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
- Securely implement all aspects of server administration and network communications
- Ensure that all network systems are backed up and tested according to the backup retention schedule
- Confirm that firewalls are configured according to best practices and that changes are reviewed properly
- Ensure AD groups, security, and password settings are configured accurately and maintained
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize network infrastructure for maximum efficiency and reliability
- Research, recommend, test, purchase and implement new IT products and equipment as approved and budgeted
- Manage and maintain PC software and hardware, including inventory administration
- Ensure that all software licensing agreements are accurate and current
- Review and respond to alerts from our managed security service providers, security tickets arising from audits/scans, and any other cybersecurity alerts. Alert Vice President/Information Systems of any event with cybersecurity implications.

- Assist with disaster recovery testing and planning and annual budgeting for network needs
- Provide assistance, support, and consistent communication to the Vice President/Information Systems
