What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Manager position at PROF TRANSIT MGMT?
Sun Tran is seeking an experienced, highly skilled Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance operations for a transit fleet of approximately 185 buses. This position is responsible for directing all maintenance activities, ensuring fleet reliability and safety, managing maintenance personnel, and implementing preventative maintenance programs. The Maintenance Manager plays a key role in maintaining operational readiness, supporting service delivery, and coordinating with other departments, including labor union representatives, to ensure effective and compliant operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate degree or technical certification in diesel technology, automotive technology, fleet maintenance, or related field; OR equivalent combination of education and extensive directly related maintenance management experience will be accepted in lieu of formal education.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible fleet maintenance experience.
• Experience supervising large teams (50 employees or supervisors).
• Strong knowledge of transit fleet systems, including diesel, CNG and electric vehicles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems.
• Valid CDL with Passenger endorsement preferred or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
• Supervise and coordinate maintenance and repair activities for fleet vehicles, including diesel, CNG, electric buses, HVAC, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension, tires, welding and fabrication.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend vehicle service life. • Monitor maintenance performance through BO logs, work orders and KPI data.
• Supervise maintenance staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management and discipline up to termination.
• Enforce company policies, procedures and operational standards.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and conduct regular safety inspections in coordination with the Maintenance Safety Manager.
• Coordinate with other departments to schedule repairs and minimize service disruptions.
• Maintain Maintenance records, special projects and organizational initiatives as required.
• Respond to operational needs, including after-hours and emergency situations as needed.
