Position Summary
The Production Scheduler develops, maintains, and communicates the detailed production schedule that converts the master plan into an executable, capacity-feasible sequence of work across gas turbine manufacturing operations. Working at the operation and work-center level, the Scheduler balances demand, capacity, material availability, and constraint utilization to establish one clear sequence the floor can execute and keeps it current as conditions change. This is the scheduling seat between the production planners and the planning manager: planners own modules and orders, the scheduler owns the sequence across all of them. Success in this role is a schedule that is realistic, stable, and defended, sequenced to what is achievable, resequenced through defined rules rather than reaction, and measured daily against execution. This position supports the GTM New Make value stream.
Reports To: Production Planning Manager
Work Location:2001 Proenergy Blvd, Sedalia, MO 65301

Position Responsibilities

  • Own the integrated sequence for the new-make scope: build and maintain the weekly and daily operation-level sequence across all part families and work centers, scheduled backward from module need dates at the build cadence, one sequence across all planners, not a sequence per planner.
  • Sequence to material reality without surrendering the cadence: work daily from the material planners’ Ready / At Risk / Short picture; when supply breaks, resequence to materially-ready work so constraint work centers never sit idle waiting on shortages, while protecting module need dates and making supply-driven schedule risk visible to the planning manager immediately, not after the miss.
  • Level-load and protect constraint work centers: sequence against demonstrated setup and cycle durations, batch part families for changeover efficiency where the schedule allows, and treat constraint-center utilization as a first-order scheduling objective.
  • Hold the locked scheduling window: publish and defend a locked, rolling short-interval sequence; disposition resequencing requests within defined rules, integrating engineering holds, quality dispositions, and first-article or new-part introductions without breaking the window.
  • Own sequence adherence measurement: publish daily and weekly adherence by work center, lead first-pass analysis of misses, and feed systemic causes — duration errors, chronic shortages, capacity gaps — to the planning manager and continuous improvement.
  • Keep the scheduling engine true: own the accuracy of the scheduling toolset today — cycle times, part-family assignments, priority logic — and routings, durations, and work-center calendars in the enterprise ERP after go-live; support user acceptance testing by validating system scheduling output against known-good manual sequences.
  • Feed the capacity model: return observed durations, setup patterns, and constraint behavior to the planning manager so the demonstrated-capacity model reflects the ramp as it actually runs, not as it was planned.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent scheduling and production-control experience.
  • Experience: 4 years in detailed production scheduling or production control in discrete manufacturing, with demonstrated ownership of a multi-work-center sequence.
  • Technical: Advanced Excel capability (structured workbooks, lookups, logic); fluency with capacity math, lead-time offsetting, and constraint-based sequencing; ability to read routings, travelers, and work instructions.
  • Working style: Disciplined and detail-driven; able to hold a locked schedule under pressure from multiple stakeholders and communicate resequencing decisions clearly and early.
  • Must be fluent in English, with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa.
  • Successful candidate will need to satisfactorily complete pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Desired Qualifications
  • Industry: High-mix, low-volume manufacturing — gas turbine, aerospace, or precision machining with special processes (welding, coating, heat treat, non-destructive testing).
  • Environment: Experience scheduling through a production ramp-up or new-line launch, where capacity, durations, and supply are still stabilizing.
  • Systems: ERP finite-scheduling experience (Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, or Oracle); advanced planning and scheduling tools; ERP implementation or user acceptance testing exposure.
  • Certifications: APICS/ASCM coursework or certification.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Constraint-based, whole-value-stream thinking — sees the sequence across all planners, not one order at a time.
  • Composure defending a locked window
  • Analytical rigor: capacity math, duration data, and changeover logic done precisely and kept true.
  • Clear, early communication of resequencing decisions
  • Process discipline
  • Comfort building in ambiguity
