Job Description
Join Production and Process Technologies as an Industrial Electrical CAD Designer! Work alongside our skilled CAD team members to design, draw, modify, and publish electrical panel drawings for a UL508A-certified panel manufacturer using AutoCAD Electrical for schematics and AutoCAD Inventor for 3D layouts. This entry- to mid-level role offers exciting growth opportunities, and while electrical design experience is preferred, we’re ready to train talented non-electrical CAD designers eager to specialize and grow with us.
Job Duties
- Interpret design criteria and customer specifications to plan and draft complex UL Listed control panel drawings using the AutoCAD Electrical Toolset- including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, safety circuits, instrumentation, etc
- Use AutoCAD Inventor to generate 3D models of electrical panel layouts
- Assist Electricians with initial power-on testing/verification of completed panels
- Assist Mechanical Engineers with 3D modeling of complex industrial machines as schedule and workload permits
Desired Experience
- Familiarity with NEC and UL508a standards, UL508a MTR certification a plus
- Single and three phase power design up to 480v
- Control circuit design and modifications
- Power requirements calculations, heat load calculations
- Specify and order equipment for the panels you design, create equipment kits for shop electricians to build from
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols - 4-20mA analog loops, Ethernet/IP, AS-Interface, IO-Link, legacy DeviceNet and DH networks.
- Familiarity with a wide variety of new and legacy industrial automation equipment. PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, safety circuits, instruments, communication networks, etc.
Required Skills
- Read and interpret P&IDs, Electrical Schematics, and Technical Documentation.
- Proficiency designing in AutoCAD, preferably using the Electrical Toolset
- Proficiency modeling in Inventor and maintaining Object Libraries
- Excellent organizational, attention to detail, and time management skills
- Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, and willingness to work closely with customers and other team members in a group environment.
