CNC Milling Programmer-Operator (3-Axis Focus)

Product & Tooling Technologies Inc
Fraser, MI Full Time
POSTED ON 3/31/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/30/2026

About the Role

Step into a hands-on position where you’ll both create CNC programs and run the machines that bring them to life. You’ll handle set-ups and changeovers, load and unload parts, and keep our milling centers cutting to spec.

A Day in Your Week

Morning might start with writing or refining a toolpath in WorkNC or PowerMill, followed by setting up a 3‑axis machining center (with any 5‑axis exposure considered a plus). You’ll choose the correct tooling per program requirements, verify offsets and workholding, and navigate the machine’s control to launch production. Throughout the shift, you’ll check dimensions, watch for anomalies, troubleshoot issues, and make on-the-fly adjustments to hold tight tolerances and maintain finish quality. When jobs wrap, you’ll execute efficient changeovers and prepare the next run.

What You’ll Own

  • Programming CNC milling operations and documenting clear work instructions.
  • Operating 3‑axis machining centers; experience with 5‑axis is an advantage.
  • Selecting and setting cutters, holders, and tooling per the programmed plan.
  • Confidently navigating CNC control interfaces.
  • Measuring parts, diagnosing issues, troubleshooting processes, and adjusting to correct them.
  • Following established procedures to ensure best-in-class cut quality.
  • Performing set-ups, changeovers, and routine loading/unloading of machines.

Skills that Set You Up for Success

  • Materials: comfortable machining aluminum, steel, kirksite, and building molds/dies.
  • Controls: hands-on with Fanuc, HAAS, Mitsubishi, and Heidenhain; exposure to Toshiba TASNuc 999 is a plus.
  • CAM: experience programming with WorkNC and PowerMill.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and solid troubleshooting instincts.
  • Fluent in blueprint reading and interpretation.
  • Able to perform calculations and moderate analytical problem solving.
