We are a student travel agency specializing in educational group tours, providing enriching experiences for middle school students across the country. Our Washington, D.C. trips offer students the chance to explore the nation's capital, engaging with history, politics, and culture in a hands-on environment. We are seeking a passionate, dynamic, and responsible Tour Director to guide students on unforgettable trips to Washington, D.C. during both the spring and fall seasons.
Position Overview:
As a Tour Director, you will be responsible for leading groups of middle school students on educational tours to Washington, D.C., ensuring a fun, safe, and educational experience. You will guide students to key landmarks and monuments, manage the group’s logistics, and act as a mentor and role model for young learners during the trip.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Tours: Guide students on scheduled visits to historical and educational sites in Washington, D.C., including but not limited to the U.S. Capitol, National Mall, Smithsonian Museums, Lincoln Memorial, and the White House.
- Manage Group Logistics: Ensure that all activities, meals, transportation, and accommodations run smoothly and on time. Ensure students stay together and follow a structured schedule.
- Safety and Well-being: Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times, handling any emergencies, medical needs, or issues that may arise during the trip.
- Engage with Students: Create an interactive and engaging environment, leading discussions, sharing interesting facts, and providing educational content to enhance the students' understanding of the landmarks and history they are experiencing.
- Communicate Effectively: Serve as the main point of contact between the students, their chaperones, and the company. Address any questions or concerns that may arise from the students or their parents/guardians.
- Foster Positive Group Dynamics: Encourage positive behavior, teamwork, and respect within the group to maintain a harmonious and enjoyable experience for everyone.
- Complete Administrative Tasks: Assist with any necessary paperwork or pre-trip preparations (e.g., student rosters, emergency contact information, etc.).
Qualifications
- Strong public speaking and communication skills
- Excellent customer service and time management abilities
- Leadership experience, preferably in a tour or hospitality setting
- Multilingual or bilingual proficiency is a plus
- Background in teaching or educational roles is advantageous
- Ability to engage and connect with diverse groups of people
